Marcarini is the name of a sixth generation family business of Barolo winemakers in the village of La Morra.Today as in the past we carry on the traditions of those who preceeded us,with the same philosophy and passion.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n In the mid-19th century Sebastiano Marcarini,general of the Sabaudian army, began the vinification of Nebbiolo grapes as Barolo for domestic use and for offering gifts in the royal reception at the Sabaudian Court. The high-ranking official was the preceptor of the Italian king\u2019s sons,Vittorio Emanuele the 2nd,who, in turn, had for Prime minister Camillo Benso Count of Cavour, one of the greatest estimator of Barolo.<\/p>\n In the beginning of the 20th century,Giulio Marcarini, the official\u2019son, was capable of carrying on the enological and cultural legacy of his father: the 30th of June 1934,he founded, together with other historic wine makers from the Langhe hillside, the \u201cConsorzio dei vini tipici di Barolo e Barbaresco\u201d. His business became very quickly successful, to the point that he started working together with his enologist Elvio Cogno and in the 60\u2019s they launch the Barolo production with the Cogno-Marcarini brand. The winery was one of the first using both the vineyard name and the Brunate cru on their labels since 1958.<\/p>\n Giuseppe Marcarini died at 59 and, from the beginning of the 80\u2019s,his daughter Anna gave a new boost to the business by increasing the 4,5 hectares in the cru of Brunate and La Serra and by expanding the wines selection with Dolcetto and Barbera. Langhe<\/i><\/b><\/p>\r\n \u00c8 met\u00e0 dell\u2019Ottocento, quando il generale Sebastiano Marcarini inizia a vinificare le uve Nebbiolo come Barolo per consumo domestico e per omaggi nei ricevimenti alla Corte Sabauda. L\u2019alto ufficiale \u00e8 infatti istitutore dei figli del Re d\u2019Italia, Vittorio Emanuele II, al cui fianco siede il Primo Ministro Camillo Benso, Conte di Cavour, tra i pi\u00f9 ferventi estimatori del Barolo.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n A inizio Novecento il figlio del generale, Giulio Marcarini, porta avanti l\u2019eredit\u00e0 culturale-enologica del padre: il 30 giugno 1934, infatti, insieme ad altri storici viticoltori e uomini di Langa, ad Alba, costituisce Il Consorzio dei Vini Tipici di Barolo e Barbaresco. Un successo immediato, che lo porta a entrare in societ\u00e0 con il suo enologo, Elvio Cogno, dando l\u2019avvio negli anni \u201860 alla produzione di Barolo sotto il marchio Cogno-Marcarini.
